I think this quote says it all:

The five S's of sports training are: Stamina, Speed, Strength, Skill and Spirit; but the greatest of these is Spirit. --Ken Doher

I went to the Natatorium today. It has been about 2 weeks since I did my Couch 2 5K training. I left off finishing week 2, and contemplated redoing this week once again. After much consideration, I decided to try and move on to week 3, and if it was to hard, I can always go back to week 2 for my next workout. Well, I did it. Week 3 consists of a 5 minute warm-up, then running 90 seconds, walking 90 seconds, running 3 minutes, walking 3 minutes (this is done twice) and a 5 minute cool-down. I did great, I completed 2 miles in 28 minutes, which is my best time ever. I am glad that I decided to take the chance and feel great. Not sure what my workout will be tomorrow, the Couch 2 5K training is done 3 times a week. - Vicki

A little about me. I have been struggling with my weight for about the past 15 or so years. Getting older and carrying around all this extra weight is no fun, not to mention unhealthy. (Don't think I need to go into that, everyone knows how many Americans are overweight). Anyway, back to me. I just turned 44 and don't want to spend the next 50+ years of my life (yep, I am going to live to be 100) being unhealthy like the first half of my life has been. I enjoy watching and reading about running, swimming and biking. I walked/ran 4 5K races in 2008, but none in 2009. Something is wrong with that picture. I had such fun, not sure why I stopped, but won't dwell on that and look to 2010 with great determination.

Well, I know some of you have been following my workouts the past few weeks and I appreciate all the support. This blog is being created to allow anyone who choses to follow along on my journey to compete (ok maybe not compete, but participate) in a Triathlon next summer and eventually complete a Marathon. This is where all of you come in to play. I really need all the support I can get, I tend to go out full force on my training, and then a few weeks later, seem to lose interest. I am going to use this blog to keep myself accountable for staying on track with my weightloss and workouts. I know the holidays are just around the corner, but, I believe by keeping the faith and with all your help, I can make it through. I will be posting everyday on how my training and eating has gone for the day.

I want to thank everyone in advance for their support and encourgement as I take this journey to better healthy and a happier life.
